The idea behind Mothusi Crafts was to sell hand made goods imported from Africa at a fair price and sell them here in the UK. During my time at Quincom I was responsible for developing the e-commerce platform to enable use to sell effectively online.

There were many possible routes to take with this one however I felt this would be an excellent opportunity to explore Ruby on the Rails. This was essentially baptism by fire for me however I did not start from scratch, the initial framework was based on Substruct however required a large degree of customisation and rewriting to achieve the required end goals.

It proved an interesting challenge and required a steep learning curve. However once I grasped the fundamental concepts of Ruby on the Rails development progressed smoothly producing a fully bespoke, full featured e-commerce platform.
